Topic :- Closing Note

The Indian markets closed today on a weak note on the day after fno expiry. Weak global cues put pressure on the markets in last one hour of trade; European markets like Britains FTSE, Frances CAC and Germanys DAX were trading 0.5-0.7% lower. US index futures like Dow Jones and Nasdaq futures fell 0.4% each. Asian markets like Straits Times, Kospi, Taiwan, Hang Seng and Shanghai declined 0.3-0.65%. Nikkei fell 1.64%.
Sensex shut shop at 17,868.29, in the negative by 123.71 points while Nifty closed 41.30 points in the negative to settle on 5,367.60.
Pull down was largely due to technology, FMCG, capital goods, realty, cement, select auto, metal and power sector stocks.

Nifty below 5380 now. Nifty if sustain below 5380 then we can see some more profit booking in the market. 5380 being the intraday support just got breached. 5400 will act as stiff Resistance for Nifty now. The market breadth is negative with advances at 613 against declines of 715 on the NSE. 


Commodity Update:
Avoid heavy positions in Base metals today like ZINC, LEAD, NICKEL, ALUMINIUM as there expiry is today and we are expecting some unusual movement in these. So wait for the call and trade as per strict stoploss and target.

Nifty still not able to cross and trade above its resistance of 5410. Nifty is trading in very narrow range of 20 points between 5390-5410. As range is very narrow generally its of just 15 points and this time its of 20 point so its not advisable to do jobbing also. The market breadth is positive with advances at 801 against declines of 525 on the NSE.

Its past noon, and the Indian market continues to trade under selling pressure with most frontline indices looking nervous;however, midcaps are showing strength. Sensex is on 17942, in the negative by 49 points since its previous close, and Nifty is on 5393, in the red by 15 points. CNX Midcap index is up 0.6% and BSE Smallcap index is up 0.7%. The market breadth is positive with advances at 782 against declines of 466 on the NSE.

Nifty spot if manages to trade above 5410-5415 then we can see some good upmove in the market and 5380 will act as good intraday support for the Nifty.
